Dear Friends,

We are happy to provide you with this year's guide to the observance of Passover. Included with your guide is a step by step set of instructions that you can use to conduct your seder. There is an authorization form that will allow me to sell your chametz. Just complete the form and return it to the Synagogue. A calendar of Synagogue events for April is also included.

Please remember that Yizkor is observed the last day of Passover. If you have not established a Yartshite plaque in memory of your loved one, now would be a good time to consider doing so. It is also a time to give Tzedakah both in memory of a loved one passed, and for the poor. Memorial gifts should be directed to the Synagogue, and gifts to the poor (Maos Chittim) should be given to the Rabbi's Fund. Gifts to the Rabbi's Fund should be directed to 1819 Clover Road, Northbrook, IL 60062 and in the memo, please mark the check "Maos Chittim". I will see to it that 100% of the gifts are passed on to the poor.

We all live very hectic lives and I know the responsibilities that are a part of life are important. Nevertheless, I would like to encourage you to take time off from work and school to observe Passover.

If you do not have a Seder to attend the two nights of Pesach, and would like to do so, please call me at home at 847.714.9423 and I will be happy to make arrangements for you to attend a Seder.

This year, due to my illness, Barbie and I will spend Passover away. We will be in Florida taking this opportunity to rest in the warm weather. Please check Darchei Noam's schedule for the services fo rthe "fast of the first born". Of course, all other Holy Day Services will be conducted by Hazzan Elsberg with the help of David Wechsler and the lay leaders.

I regret any inconvenience this may cause and I trust that you will understand.

With best wishes for a Chag Kasher ViSamayach.

Sincerely,
Rabbi Peter J. Mehler
